BBC DOCUMENTARY — SILENCE WOULD BE TREASON
Nigerian political activist Ken Saro-Wiwa spearheaded the resistance against Shell Oil and the Nigerian government drilling for oil in the mangrove swamps of the Niger Delta in the 1990s, and the subsequent pollution that destroyed farms and rivers, and contaminated the fishing and drinking water of the Ogoni people. This documentary details Saro-Wiwa’s last writings after he was imprisoned by the Nigerian government, and later executed.
